How to get Reliance Netconnect or any USB mobile internet connection to work in openSuse
How to configure Reliance netconnect in openSuse 12.1 or 12.2?
How to get Reliance netconnect work in openSuse
If you have noticed with openSuse 12.1, it's easy to connect internet using Network Manager
However for Reliance or any connection which requires username/password settings, there is an issue. You get the following error when you try to click on your mobile connection under the Mobile Broadband list in Network Manager icon.
Connection failed Activation of Network connection failed
If you are getting such error, all you need to set the username password in the corresponding config file of the connection.
The config files are present in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections
For reliance you will have config file name Reliance conncetion.
- Open the file in your favorite text editor
- Under the section [cdma] enter your username and password - for reliance it's the number itself
username=93xxxxxxxx
password=93xxxxxxxx - Save and try to connect again using Reliance connection
- Insert your USB Reliance NetConnect
- Look for Mobile broadband in Network Connection Manager (in systray the icon with wifi, if you have wifi turned on)
- You will see Auto Broadband, select that and follow the wizard
